Ariana Lopes Morey
Ariana Lopes Morey is a Policy Adviser in the ICRC’s Policy & Research Division, where she helps shape the organization’s position and action on key themes based on operational research. Currently, she leads work on the topics of peace and humanitarian action, the protection of humanitarian personnel, and gender. She drove the development of the ICRC’s 2024 Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion policy, and co-led earlier institutional publications on protracted conflict and food security. With 15 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, Ariana has held various roles, including field delegate, project coordinator, legal analyst, trainer, and adjudicator. In addition to her work at the ICRC, she has collaborated with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the International Criminal Court (ICC), and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Ariana holds a Masters in International Humanitarian Action (Universities of Groningen and Bilbao), a Bachelor degree in Peace and Conflict Studies (University of Toronto), and Executive Certificate in Diversity, Inclusion and Racism (Geneva Graduate Institute). She continues to study for both personal and professional growth in areas such as international criminal law, indigenous’ peoples rights, somatic studies, and people-centered leadership.
