INFORMATION NOTICE ON THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS (ICRC)

This notice provides you with information about how we, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as Data Controller, and the Law & Policy Outreach Unit as Staff in Charge, respect your privacy and protect your Personal Data in the context of the ICRC’s Humanitarian Law & Policy newsletter.

The ICRC is committed to respecting the privacy of all individuals and to acting in compliance with high standards of data protection and in a transparent manner. This notice is made in conformity with the ICRC Rules on Personal Data Protection.

Type of Personal Data concerned and Purposes of Processing

In the context of signing up to receive the ICRC’s Humanitarian Law & Policy newsletter, we will process the following Personal Data: First Name; Last Name; Email Address; Organization; and Country/region. These Personal Data shall be processed in order to maintain a recipient list of those individuals who have expressed an interest in receiving the ICRC’s Humanitarian Law & Policy newsletter.

Legitimate basis for Processing

We place a high priority on protecting your privacy. Whenever we process your Personal Data in relation to this process, we do so on the basis of your express consent to receive the ICRC’s Humanitarian Law & Policy newsletter, which will bring you the latest news on international humanitarian law and humanitarian action, upcoming ICRC events, new projects, publications and trainings.

Access to the Personal Data and safeguards

To ensure smooth and effective running of the process, the ICRC makes use of an external service provider called HubSpot, Inc. The personal information mentioned above will be stored and processed on behalf of the ICRC by HubSpot, Inc., which has employed safeguards to help protect the rights of the individuals concerned.

Duration of the Retention Period

The data will be retained for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes specified above. On a periodic basis we will send you an email asking you to confirm your continued interest in receiving the newsletter. If you do not respond to the email, or if you respond in the negative, then you will no longer receive the newsletter, and we will remove your Personal Data from the newsletter’s recipient list.

Your Rights

We are committed to treating your Personal Data with security, respect, and confidentiality and all your Personal Data will be processed in strict compliance with the ICRC Rules on Personal Data Protection.

You have certain rights with regard to your Personal Data: you have the right to access your Personal Data, to correct mistakes or inaccuracies and, subject to certain conditions, to have your Personal Data erased (to the extent applicable). You can also withdraw your consent to the processing of your Personal Data by the ICRC at any time.
