Thao Nguyen earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Peace Studies from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. She won first-prize in the 2023 International Humanitarian Law Role-play Competition Japan National Round, organized by the ICRC’s delegation in Japan. She later competed in the 2024 Jean-Pictet Competition (44th edition Pokhara, Nepal). Her graduation thesis is titled “Towards Humanity or Military Necessity? – A Legal Analysis of Military Objectives.”
