Sylvain Vité

Sylvain Vité is Senior Legal Adviser at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In his current position, he provides legal support to ICRC’s Operations in the Americas and Asia-Pacific. In the past, he has undertaken field assignments with the ICRC, has worked as legal adviser and program manager with different non-governmental organizations, and was lecturer and researcher with academic circles.
Sylvain Vité holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Geneva, a Master in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, a Master of Laws from the American University/Washington College of Law, and a Ph.D in International Law from the University of Geneva.
He has published academic books and articles on topics related to international humanitarian law and human rights law. He has also contributed to the drafting of the new Commentaries on the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
