Romaric Ferraro
Romaric Ferraro is the Operational Legal Adviser for the ICRC Delegation in Ethiopia, where he provides legal support on IHL to the protection and assistance activities of the ICRC in the country. He also advises national authorities on the domestic implementation of IHL and contributes to the bilateral and confidential dialogue of the ICRC to ensure respect for IHL with parties to armed conflicts. Romaric joined the ICRC in 2004 and has worked as a Operational Legal Adviser in Colombia, Mexico and Central America and Niger. He started his career with the ICRC as Legal Adviser within the Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Advisory Service on IHL. He has also been a Protection Delegate for the ICRC in Madagascar, Comoros, Malaysia and the Philippines, where he was Deputy Protection Coordinator for Detention.
Romaric studied law in the universities of Avignon and Montpellier and holds a Master’s Degree in human rights law from the University of Nantes and a Master of Advanced Studies in International Law in Armed Conflicts from the University of Geneva.
