Heleen Hiemstra
Heleen Hiemstra is a Legal Adviser at the International Committee of the Red Cross, where she is a member of the project team charged with updating the Commentaries on the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their 1977 Additional Protocols. Prior to joining the ICRC, she has collaborated with, among others, the Humanitarian Exchange and Research Centre (HERE-Geneva), the International Association of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP), and the Netherlands Red Cross.
Heleen holds an LL.M. from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, a masters in Dutch law, and an LLB in International and European Law.
