Fahad Ahmed
Fahad Ahmed is the ICRC’s Legal Advisor, based at headquarters, coordinating the institutions work on Arms Transfers and Conventional Weapons. He has previously worked on the universalization and national implementation of all weapons related treaties. Prior to these positions Fahad worked as the ICRC’s Legal Advisor to the African Union in Addis Ababa and the Legal Advisor to Operations for the ICRC’s Regional Delegation for India, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives. Fahad started his career with the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and subsequently worked for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Cambodia and the United Nations Development Programme. Fahad has educational qualifications from the Harvard Law School, University of Amsterdam and was a Fellow at the United Nations University in Tokyo. Fahad has worked and lived in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America and has a keen interest in multilateral humanitarian negotiations.
