Avigail Shai
Avigail Shai is a Policy Adviser in the ICRC’s Policy & Humanitarian Diplomacy Division, where she was previously a Diplomatic Adviser focused on UN and multilateral engagement. Prior to joining the ICRC, she was a Policy Adviser at the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, part of the Norwegian Refugee Council. Before this, Avigail was an Australian diplomat, serving overseas in Zimbabwe (also covering the Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Laos, and at headquarters focusing on Chinese politics, human rights, and strategic communications. She has also worked in child protection with UNICEF in Nepal.
Avigail holds a Master of International Affairs (Peace and Conflict Studies), and Bachelor’s degrees in Law and International Studies.
