Siobhan Sparkes McNamara
Siobhan Sparkes McNamara is the Global Child Protection Adviser in the Protection Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva. Her work addresses the ways in which children are differently and disproportionately affected by armed conflict, with particular focus on child recruitment, the detention of children, conflict-related family separation and the protection of children during urban warfare. Before joining headquarters, Siobhan spent eight years with the ICRC in operational protection roles in Rwanda, Central African Republic, Nigeria and South Sudan, and as Regional Protection Trainer covering East Africa. She holds an LLM in Human Rights, Justice and Conflict from SOAS, University of London; a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work from Middlesex University; and has completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Humanitarian Leadership from the University of Lucerne.
