Marina Sharpe

Marina Sharpe is Associate Professor of international law at Canada’s Royal Military College Saint-Jean and Professeure associée in the faculty of law at Université de Sherbrooke, as well as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross. Immediately prior to joining RMCSJ, she was Senior Legal Officer with UNHCR’s Representation to the AU. Marina is the author of The Regional Law of Refugee Protection in Africa (OUP 2018) and articles and chapters on international criminal, human rights and refugee law. Her current research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, is on humanitarian action. Marina is a member of the International Journal of Refugee Law’s editorial board.

Marina holds a DPhil in law from the University of Oxford, where she was a Trudeau Scholar, an MSc in development studies from LSE and degrees in common and civil law and economics from McGill University. She is called to the bar in England & Wales and New York.
