In many war-torn countries, the outbreak of the Coronavirus has been slow. But now, it is spreading in Gaza, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and beyond. The question is, if Coronavirus can overwhelm well-equiped, well-functioning hospitals in europe, what happens in Yemen where half the healthcare facilities are not functioning? Or in Somalia, where there are 9 hospital beds for every 10 thousand people?
How people in these fragile, war-torn countries can take preventive measures? How can you social-distance yourself in an overcrowded camp? How can you wash your hands regularly when there is no running water, let alone soap or sanitizer?
In this video, we see how the ICRC, as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has fought other outbreaks, such as Ebola, Cholera, Scabies and Tuberculosis and how it is now responding to the Corona crisis in war-affected countries.
