In the north zonal round of the 14th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Competition 2014, the team from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, triumphed over the team from National Law University, Jodhpur. The keenly contested competition saw participation from 17 teams.
In the individual prize category, the team from National University of Juridical Studies (NUJS), Kolkata, won the Best Researcher award. Rajiv Gandhi National Law University (RGNLU), Punjab, clinched the Best Memorial prize while the counsel from NLU, Jodhpur, won the Best Advocate award.
The north zonal round, the second qualifying round of the revamped Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Competition, was hosted by the ICRC Regional Delegation in New Delhi and the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) from 1-3 August 2014 in partnership with Institute of Law, Nirma University, Gujarat. The organizers of the event, the ICRC and the ISIL, have this year introduced a new format of two qualifying rounds — north and south — leading to the grand finale. The change is aimed at sensitising students and faculty members alike to international humanitarian law.
The top eight of the 17 participating teams from the north zonal round will compete in the India National Round of the competition in August in New Delhi. A total of 16 teams will be pitted against each other in the national round scheduled on 16-17 August at the ISIL campus in the Capital.
