Yvette Issar
Dr. Yvette Issar served as a Legal Adviser at the ICRC’s headquarters in Geneva, where, from July 2017 till December 2022, she worked on the ICRC project to update the Commentaries on the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977. She participated in the effort to update the Commentaries on the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions. Earlier in her career, she worked with several academic, non-governmental and international organizations, including the University of Geneva, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Geneva Call, and the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO).
Dr. Issar currently serves as a Political Affairs Officer at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in Geneva. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Geneva, and an LL.M from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
