Paula Iwanowska is a Legal Expert with the Swedish Armed Forces, working at the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations. Her main areas of expertise are the intersection of IHL, human rights law and gender considerations in armed conflict and military operations. At the NCGM she works with States and international organisations to ensure a gender perspective is integrated into military actions and operations, including through security sector reform, policy advice and military education and training.

Prior to joining the armed forces, Paula worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as at the UN in New York and in the humanitarian field in the Middle East. She holds a Master of Laws from New York University, and is admitted to practice law in New York State.
