LT COL Susan Mwanga
Col Susan is a Ugandan female military lawyer, who desires to promote and protect human rights, harmony, and peaceful co-existence. She has close to eighteen years of professional experience as a Legal Officer and trainer of human rights and humanitarian law. She has worked as a Field Operations Officer and later as Team Leader under the Monitoring and Verification Team in Bentiu, South Sudan.
She has been a legal advisor on human rights claims against the military and government by civilians and soldiers, legal aid provision (to troops in operation, their families), educating troops on military operation laws and practice, advising higher authorities on claims of criminal or civil nature against the government. She has conducted coordination, information gathering, and supervision of humanitarian activities in hard-to-reach areas. As CIMIC Officer, she liaised between local populations, government, and other stakeholders; with the aim to prevent or resolve at a lesser expense on human life, property, and government.
