Juan José Ruiz Quintero is the Thematic Associate in the Armed and Security Forces Unit at the ICRC. He previously worked with the International Organization for Migration in Egypt, the Department of International Refugee Law and Migration Law of the San Remo Institute, the DDR section of the UN Department of Peace Operations, and with the Permanent Mission of Colombia to the United Nations in Geneva.

He holds a master’s degree in International Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute where he focused in International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights law and Migration and Refugee law. His master’s degree thesis focused on the obligations of Non-State Armed Groups to provide reparations for violations under IHRL and IHL.
