Cristina Azzarello works in the humanitarian field. She has worked in the Rule of Law and Democracy Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva and for two different law firms in Milan, Italy. She holds a law degree from Bocconi University in Milan and an LL.M in European and International Human Rights Law from Leiden University. Her main areas of focus are IHL and human rights law, in particular as they relate to non-State actors. This article has been written in the personal capacity of the author.
