Alexandra Jackson
Alexandra Jackson is Global Adviser on Child Protection in the Operations Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva. Her present work focuses, among other issues, on the protection of children during war in cities and she led the ICRC’s publication “Childhood in Rubble : the Humanitarian Consequences of Urban Warfare for Children”. Other areas of professional interest include child recruitment, detention of children and family separation during conflict. Prior to joining the HQ, she spent six years with the ICRC on various missions in Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Haiti, and led the British Red Cross’ International Youth Volunteering Programme.
She is currently completing an Executive Masters in the international law of armed conflict from the Geneva Academy and has a Masters of Arts in English Literature and French from Edinburgh University.
