A historian by training (University of Geneva; Graduate Institute) and a journalist by profession, Daniel Palmieri joined the ICRC in 1995. Since 2002, he has been responsible for historical research at the headquarters. His research focuses on the history of the ICRC and humanitarian action, as well as on the history of armed conflicts.
