ICRC supported 14 prosthetist and orthotists from Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) to participate in a training course on Ischial Containment Sockets, a blended learning course delivered by Human Study Organization, a long-term partner of ICRC Physical Rehabilitation Program (PRP) in prosthetist and orthotists education and training.

The training contained a six-day practical training workshop was finally held in Tehran following 6 weeks of online sessions. This course will equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide an alternative prosthetic device to that currently used across Iran, for active, above knee amputees.

Over the preceding years the ICRC has provided training courses to IRCS rehabilitation staff in the areas of spinal orthotics, wheelchair service delivery (Basic and Intermediate), PRC services management. Currently during field visits to Mashhad and Zahedan, regular on the job training is provided.
