Bounma Xayasouk, 51, Director of health promotion with Lao Red Cross Fifty-one-year-old Bounma Xayasouk is leading the Lao Red Cross efforts to get aid into remote villages and evacuation camps following the recent dam collapse. Five weeks after the dam collapse, 1,632 people living in three emergency shelter areas are still only semi-accessible by road. Bounma’s team are reliant on a helicopter to reach these people. For Bounma, clean water is the absolute priority. The Red Cross has already distributed water filters and built five latrines. Now the team is delivering 10 more latrines and four water treatment units.
