The 3rd Advanced International Humanitarian Law South Asia Academics Training (AISAAT) for the South Asia and Iran region got underway in New Delhi on 17 November 2015. The inaugural lecture of the three-day programme was delivered by Former International President of Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF), Dr. Unni Karunakara. In his interview to the ICRC New Delhi blog, Dr Karunakara underlines the key challenges in humanitarian action in 21st Century.
The theme of AISAAT 2015 ‘Contemporary Challenges in International Humanitarian Law (IHL)’ encompasses several pertinent issues such as terrorism, non-state actors and IHL and accountability for IHL violations. AISAAT provides academicians in law universities and colleges in the field of International Humanitarian Law the opportunity to exchange views on some of the current issues and developments in IHL.
