People affected by conflict need basic health care that meets universally recognized standards; in response, the ICRC treats and cares for the wounded and sick through first aid, war surgery, and physical rehabilitation. Increasingly, innovations – like improved diagnostic tools for childhood illnesses and low-cost/high-performing prostheses – are giving more people access to better medical services.
