Fifteen teams from across ten states in India will participate at this year’s National Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which is being held from 26-30 December 2016 at Dr. J. Jayalalitha Indoor Basketball Stadium, Kilpauk, Chennai. This is the third year of the championship organised by the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) in partnership with the ICRC.

Ten men’s teams and five women’s teams are participating in the 2016 edition of the championship. These are from Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

Last year’s championship held in Delhi saw the representation of nine states, with Maharashtra winning the coveted title. At the first edition of the national championship in 2014, too, the trophy was won by Maharashtra team.
