The COVID-19 pandemic has put an extreme strain on the healthcare sector. In the midst of this crisis, a few countries have also witnessed cyberattacks on their medical facilities and infrastructure.

Compared with other sectors — like the financial services and other IT embedded sectors — healthcare infrastructure almost worldwide has not kept pace with robust IT security measures. Health facilities and infrastructure are a rich source of valuable data and, thus, a soft target. As efforts to contain the pandemic intensify, vaccine research and testing ensue, the health infrastructure is stretched to capacity and the health sector becomes more digitalised — countries can ill afford to deal with cyberattacks and data breaches in healthcare. In the face of new techniques and methods of attacks, do we have the necessary protections in place, or do we need to invest more attention and resources to ensure healthcare is protected at all times?

This webinar aims to discuss the growing digitisation of the health sector and the associated risks of cyberattacks. Discussions will also focus on the existing legal and statutory frameworks (both domestic and international), the increased protections that are required as new techniques and methods of attacks emerge.

This webinar will be livecast from 5:00 p.m. IST.
