In continuation of the World Red Cross Day celebrations, the Indian Red Cross Society formally unveiled a bust in honour of the founder of the Red Cross Movement, Henry Dunant, at its headquarters on May 9, 2016 in Delhi. The unveiling of the bust and the plaque was carried out by Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, Rajya Sabha MP and Vice-Chairman of the IRCS.
The IRCS ‘India First Aid Manual’ was released on this occasion by Smt Mallika Nadda, founder of Chetna Association and wife of Union Minister and IRCS Chairperson Shri JP Nadda.
Smt Mallika Nadda, Shri Khanna and Shri Rajeev Gupta, Secretary, Youth Affairs, also awarded the winners of the Red Cross Day online competitions for essay, painting and photograph together with Dr Veer Bhushan, Acting Secretary-General of the IRCS, Mr Leon Prop, Head of the Country Cluster South Asia for the IFRC, and Ms Mary Werntz, Head of the New Delhi regional delegation of the ICRC.
