Mr. Carboni serves as the chief representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the United States and Canada, bringing a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to humanitarian action. Prior to this assignment Mr. Carboni was Regional Director for ICRC’s Middle East Operations. With over two decades of field and headquarters experience at the ICRC, he led field operations in some of the world’s most complex emergencies including Afghanistan, Myanmar, Lebanon, and the broader Middle East. Throughout his career, Fabrizzio has been at the forefront of efforts to uphold human dignity in conflict zones promoting the Law of Armed Conflict and humanitarian action. His work has included ICRC efforts visiting places of detention to ensure humane treatment of detainees captured in conflict, advocating for the dignity and rights of displaced individuals, reuniting families separated by war, and fostering critical dialogue with both governmental and non-governmental actors on conduct of hostilities. Mr. Carboni is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian.
