Before commencing with the ICRC in 2024, Ms. Able-Thomas served the U.S. Congress for almost 8 years in various capacities within the non-partisan legislative branch agency, Congressional Research Service (CRS). She advised and supported Members of Congress and Congressional staff in shaping U.S. engagement and foreign assistance in the areas of global health security, humanitarian and broader international development policy. As a Congressional Relations Specialist, she was also responsible for facilitating and cultivating CRS’ relationship with the Congress. During that time, Ms. Able-Thomas became an ICAP Fellow at the Aspen Institute. Prior to Congress, Ms. Able-Thomas worked for International Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations in Africa and Europe advancing initiatives related to governance and human rights, humanitarian and migration policy, global health, counterterrorism and development communications. Ms. Able-Thomas earned her Master’s in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), United Kingdom.
