The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is pleased to invite students from the universities of Nepal to register for the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, Nepal National Rounds (2023). This year’s edition will consist of an evaluation of written memorials. The winning team will be eligible to register for the 2024 Hong Kong rounds of the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition.

Participants may register at this link. The deadline for registration is 1 October 2023 (23:59hrs Kathmandu time).

The deadline for the submission of memorials is 19 November 2023.

For more details about the 2023 round, see the Rules of the Competition and Moot Problem.

The purpose of this annual moot court competition on international humanitarian law (IHL) is to develop an increased awareness of IHL among law students throughout Nepal as well as further their advocacy and research skills.

Previously, two top-ranking teams from the national rounds would represent their country in the South Asian regional rounds. As of 2023, the regional rounds for South Asia will no longer be organized. Instead, the winning team (only one) of each national round would directly qualify for the Asia-Pacific round jointly organized by the ICRC and the Hong Kong Red Cross to be held in March 2024.

The ICRC reserves the right to change the contents of this notice, the rules and all arrangements of the 18th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition.
