World Red Cross Day is observed on May 8 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross. In keeping with the theme for this year — which is “Less Known Red Cross Stories” — the Indian Red Cross Society, the ICRC and the IFRC, are organizing online essay and photography competitions. These are open to all. The entries will be judged by a panel of judges and three winners from each category will be felicitated.

Following may also be noted by the contestants:
- Only top three entries shall receive prize/certificate
- There is no entry fee
- Employees and family members of the Red Cross Staff are not eligible to participate
- Language: English
- All entries shall become Red Cross property
- Only one entry per contestant is permitted
- Decision of the jury shall be final
