Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Integrated Management System represents the integration of systems that are focused on quality, environment, and occupational health and safety along with the process, practices, and documentation.
The integration consists of three main management systems: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 14001:2015. The Quality Management System ISO 9001 focuses on risk analysis, process performance, and innovation.
AUDITS AND ASSESSMENTS
Suppliers are selected on their ability to supply products meeting ICRC requirements following international standards. For the distributions to be effective, suppliers must commit to delivering the right product, of the right quality, in the right quantity, in the right place, and at the right time. The ICRC has added a further condition for companies; to conform to social and environmental compliance.
The QHSE policy ensures that the items distributed are produced under acceptable conditions and best meet the needs of beneficiaries. For this purpose, ICRC’s assessors perform on-site company audits and assessments to ensure that the minimum standards of product quality, social responsibility, and environmental protection are applied.
The audit criteria include QMS efficiency, working conditions, machine security & maintenance, health and safety, child labor, and environmental protection. Non-compliance with one or more of these criteria does not automatically disqualify suppliers. When companies fail to meet the requirements, a corrective action plan is requested to remedy the situation.
The ICRC has developed an online training course covering the basics of how to conduct a QHSE assessment of suppliers and partner companies. Within the ICRC, the course can be accessed here, and for externals the IFRC platform is accessible to everyone.
