On the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) joins the International Red Cross and Red Cross Crescent Movement in celebrating it. This is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the courage and commitment of Red Cross and Red Crescent members and volunteers all over the world.
Every year, the SRCS serves more than three million people with a wide variety of programs tailored to the needs of communities all over the country. The SRCS helps people prepare for, cope with, and recover from disasters and crises through disaster management preparedness and building community resilience, providing health care, first aid and emergency services, as well as helping restoring family links.
Mohamed Yarrow Abdi, the First Aid and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Manager tells us more about the SRCS 446 first aid emergency number. He also talks about the challenges and fears that come with being part of an emergency unit in Mogadishu.
