We are delighted to announce the publication of the Urdu version of the important reference work “Articles on International Humanitarian Law and Islam”, in Arabic: “Maqalat fi ‘l-qanun ad-duwali al-insani wa-‘l Islam”, which was edited by Ameur Zemmali. It is a collection of articles by Islamic scholars from around the world on the intersection of Islamic law and International Humanitarian Law. Translating this reference work from Arabic into Urdu widens its reach and opens up new dialogues and perspectives from the many million Urdu speakers around in the world.

Ameur Zemmali, born in 1955, graduated from the Faculty of Law in Tunis and subsequently qualified as a barrister. He also has a diploma of advanced law studies and a doctorate in law from the University of Geneva. As part of the Legal Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross, he has published several articles and research papers and has taken part in numerous studies of International Humanitarian Law. He is the author of several books in Arabic, English, and French, including on the Islamic law concerning the protection of victims of war.
