A special webinar on IHL and Islamic Law featuring Dr. Ahmed Al-Dawoody, Legal Adviser for Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at ICRC was held on October 24, 2019. Dr. Ahmed Al-Dawoody provided an overview of the principles regulating the use of force under Islamic law and discussed the ICRC’s current work in this area. The webinar also offered insight into the universality of many legal traditions and how Islamic law can help to ensure compliance with IHL.
