The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been closely monitoring the situation in northern Israel. Hostilities in the north have caused death and injuries to civilians and widespread damage to infrastructure in cities, towns and communities close to the Israel-Lebanon border.
Since October 2023, tens of thousands of civilians in Israel have been displaced, and many remain so. Thousands have been separated from family members and friends, and community life has been shattered. Many who have not evacuated live under constant anxiety about what might happen next.
The ICRC is deeply concerned about the continued violence and the impact it is having, and will continue to have, on civilians.
We urge all parties involved to prioritize the protection of civilians and respect for international humanitarian law. No one should live in fear for their lives and their loved ones.
