While states have ratified key international legal conventions, people often are bound more to their religious beliefs and traditions than the abstract texts of international law. Acknowledging this fact, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) engages worldwide with religious scholars, academics, humanitarian workers and other segments of civil society to explore correspondences between humanitarian principles and religious teachings. The “Faith in Humanity” film is a contribution in this endeavour.

For this film, the ICRC interviewed religious leaders and faith-based humanitarians in ASEAN countries to identify areas of convergence and explore how religious circles can contribute to reducing suffering during armed conflict.
