“Neutrality allows us to gain the trust of all parties involved in the conflict. As we have seen in recent days, it allows us to assist in the release of hostages, because the parties trust us not to make political statements.”

She added that “all over the world we are working with all sides to assist civilians who are not involved in the fighting. We are in talks with countries as well as with armed groups.”
