The spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Israel, Gilad Grossman, was interviewed by YNET regarding the operation to return the deceased hostages.
“The ICRC does not search for the deceased. We are on the ground because this is a complex operation, we are there as a neutral intermediary who is supposed to help the parties fulfill their obligations and then assist in the transfer of the deceased,” he said.
“We are ready and present when a deceased person needs to be transferred – whether it is a hostage or a Palestinian. The whole issue of identifying the body or bodies is up to the authorities. We are a intermediary who helps implement the humanitarian parts of the agreement and make the parties fulfil their obligations.”
