International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) spokesperson, Jake Kertzer, gave an interview to Kan 11 public broadcasting tv.

“From the beginning of the war, we said that taking hostages was strictly prohibited, and we immediately said that the hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally,” he said. “We were willing to visit the hostages and provide them with medical assistance and help them reconnect with their families. Unfortunately, we were denied this approach.”

He added that the organization is ready to assist hostages at any moment. “This is reflected in the fact that we were able to return hostages to Israel, back to their families, when an agreement was reached between the parties.”
