The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is looking for a candidate to fill in the following position:
Legal and Political Adviser
Place of Employment: Tel Aviv
Contract duration: 12 months (extendable)
Occupation rate: 100%
Starting Date: January 2025
Main responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Operational Legal Coordinator and the Head of Delegation, the Legal and Political Adviser researches, analyses and advises the ICRC IL/OT delegation on political developments and changes in the overall environment and conflict and security dynamics. S/he identifies, maintains and broadens a network of contacts at the national level and facilitates the management’s access to them. S/he advises the delegation and conducts related legal work on international humanitarian law (IHL), international human rights law (IHRL), Israeli law. S/he initiates, formulates and implements strategies to address identified issues and delegation objectives in the legal and political domain.
Education & professional experience
– University degree in law.
– Mater’s degree of specialization in a discipline of public international law, including IHL or IHRL.
– Excellent command of English and Hebrew.
– Excellent writing skills in both English and Hebrew, including legal drafting skills.
– Proficient computer literacy.
– Min 5 years relevant experience in similar fields of activities.
– Admitted to the Israeli bar.

– Familiarity with Israel’s political system and ability to lead and engage with relevant authorities.
