Around one million people have sought refuge in Maiduguri after fleeing on-going violence in the northeast of Nigeria. Almost everyone has lost everything when they had to run away to save their lives.

The situation of those displaced by the violence in northeast Nigeria, especially women and girls, is extremely difficult. Communities have been torn apart, children are not going to school and almost everyone has lost everything. ICRC is also working in Nigeria to restore contact between family members separated by the conflict.
