Millions of people in Iraq are suffering from the fighting. “Many of them lost all their belongings and their means of earning a living” , said Alienor Bernhard our deputy head of delegation in Iraq. The ICRC in Iraq delivered food, drinking water, other relief items and medical assistance to more then a million people since January.
one of the main challenges is the enormous number of displaced people. “In most places, their presence has put an additional strain on host communities and has outstripped the capacity of those communities to support them”, explains Bernhard. “We are continuing to provide relief for displaced people in all 14 provinces where they have sought refuge.”
