Geneva/Tel Aviv (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) firmly condemns the murder of Naftali Frankel and Gil-ad Sha’er, both 16, and 19-year-old Eyal Yifrach, abducted on 12 June and found dead last night near Hebron.
“Our thoughts go out to the families of Naftali, Gil-ad and Eyal,” said Peter Maurer, the president of the ICRC. “We extend our sincerest condolences to them at this tragic time.”
The ICRC recently called for the release of the three teenagers, and requested that they be treated humanely and that their lives and dignity be respected.
The ICRC appeals for restraint on all sides in order to prevent further unnecessary loss of life. “This is one of those critical moments when all parties must demonstrate their respect for international humanitarian law and protect civilians,” added Mr Maurer.
