Dr Raed Aburabi, has been working for ICRC for 20 years. He is in charge of the health in detention unit at headquarters. As part of his work, he visits countries where ICRC works to develop a dialogue with the detaining authorities on improving health services and conditions in places of detention. During a recent visit Israel and the occupied territories, he explained the role and the concerns of the ICRC during a hunger strike of detainees and the importance of respecting medical ethics related to this matter.
