The suffering of children affected by armed conflict is one of the most pressing political and humanitarian concerns today. Yet it remains one
of the most neglected.

In response, Norway together with Save the Children International, UNICEF and the ICRC and in partnership the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the SRSG for Children and Armed Conflict, the African Union and a cross regional group of states, will host the international conference Protecting Children in Armed Conflict – Our Common Future in Oslo 5-6 June.

We invite states, including armed forces, international organisations, civil society, and the humanitarian sector to commit to minimising the impact of armed conflict on children.

The conference aims to increase awareness and understanding of decision makers on the greatest protection challenges that children face. It will mobilize action and commitments by states, donors, and the humanitarian community to address these challenges.

Conflict affects the lives and future of children in dramatic ways.
Children must be better protected. Our common future is at stake.
