When people die during disaster, migration, conflict, or other situations of violence, their bodies must be handled respectfully and with dignity. The ICRC is uniquely positioned within the humanitarian space to support and accompany local experts to find, recover, and identify human remains when required. This has given way to a new wave of innovations, such as the Better Body Bag, which aims to preserve human remains in harsh and difficult conditions or complex network analysis to identify and trace missing migrants.
