The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regional delegation for India, Bhutan and the Maldives have the pleasure to invite you to attend a meeting and social gathering of the alumni of the ICRC South Asia Teaching Session (SATS) on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), which shall take place on 11 September 2014 at the ICRC office in New Delhi at C-6/6 Safdurjung Development Area.

Over its 15-year history, the SATS programme has developed into a prestigious and regionally recognised event, with participants from 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In collaboration with various government and academic institutions across the region, the ICRC utilises this biannual academic forum to disseminate and share perspectives on IHL with public officials, members of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, academics, Red Cross / Red Crescent representatives and representatives of non-governmental organisations.

During this meeting, SATS alumni and other guests will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on ‘The Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict and other Emergencies’, led by eminent jurists and experts. Through such initiative, the ICRC intends to expand the forum for dialogue on IHL and to share perspectives on its development. Kindly see the agenda for the event.
